Class Descriptions

Beginning Yoga - A six week series geared toward students who are new to yoga or those who want to move gently and slowly. Classes will cover the basics of hatha yoga which is the foundation for all other styles of yoga. Students will become familiar with key words and phrases that are used in most yoga classes and learn how to navigate easily in the world of yoga. Advance registration is required.

Yoga - A well rounded hatha yoga class which includes sequences of postures (vinyasas) connected by breath (pranayama) and concludes with a meditation (shavasana). Teaches optimal alignment for the basic yoga poses according to each body's individual needs. Designed to focus and calm the mind and build deep internal strength and flexibility. See level descriptions below.

Ashtanga Yoga - An eight week series designed to explore the ancient and timeless tradition of Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series. This is a specific set of poses that drives our awarenesses deeper as our bodies open in continuous flow of breath and movement. Focuses on the intricacies of alignment while exploring each student's individual needs in the practice. Advance registration is required.

NIA/Zumba - Dynamic, fluid moves that flow with fun music from all over the world. Offers both structured and free movement to help you sweat, strengthen, and increase your joy while improving muscle tone and cardiovascular health.

Pilates Circuit - This small group circuit class utilizes the MVe chair as well as foam rollers, rings, bands and even weights to define, tone and stretch your body bringing you results instantly. Offers heart-pumping sculpting exercises with the efficiency and effectiveness of a Pilates reformer.

Levels

Level 1 - A class suitable for beginners who have had an introduction to the basic principles of yoga. Some experience is recommended but not necessary.

Level 2 - An intermediate class designed for students who have an established yoga practice. Some experience is recommended.

Level 3 -An advanced class designed for individuals looking for a deeper, more challenging yoga practice. Not recommended for beginners.
